Foxy Friend

Every little girl needs a companion to explore the woods with. It's even better when that friend is wise, wily and warm......

Her name might be Jemima, but she's no stupid duck. In fact, I'd say she even has the upper hand with this little fellow.

She found him waiting on her bed when she got home from camp on Friday night. They've been inseparable ever since.
Details ravelled here.

Hope you've all enjoyed a lovely weekend :)

a little progress

I've been slogging away at the final round of assignments for my teaching units. It never really seems to get any easier......I just can't seem to find enough hours in the day to add study to my list along with work, home duties and the needs the of the kidlets (not to mention the bus service that I seem to run after school!)

Anyhow, that's quite enough complaining. I've made a bit of progress on the Agnes and I have a lovely little book to read and dream about all the other projects I'm going to make when I have some more of the above mentioned time.  This little book by Mel Clark is a real cutie. You can catch some more pictures and info over at her blog.

I am desperate to make this card and I have just the wool in my stash.....

Thinking that these could be very cute on the teenager. Maybe I'm just blinded by the wallpaper in the background. I had exactly the same Sanderson print made into a gelaskin cover for my i-phone.

This reminds me of the little one. However, I think I'd better finish off her Foxy friend before I start on this fellow.

Well, I'd better stop procrastinating and stick my head back into the books. If you feel like a cup of tea or coffee and a delicious treat to go with it, head on over to Greer's. She's hosting an amazing bloggy morning tea with all donations going to cancer research. Quite a feast for the eyes and guaranteed to make the taste buds drool.

my girl

I had a pretty lousy mother's day from the perspective of being slayed by the flu, but also very, very special at the same time.  The teenager had bought a scrapbook with sections to fill out with thoughts and comments about your's truly. I think I will treasure this book forever.  She had me in tears with the poem she wrote on page one!

The "report" section was hilarious, with both girls contributing some very observant comments. The all time favourite had to be the "A" for "Creativity". The accompanying comment read, "is very creative and always making things, particularly knitting. However, she may like to consider finishing a project before she starts  another".

With all the grunting, huffing and door closed moments that seem to accompany these teenage years, it can be easy to loose sight of how much they do still love and need you. As she so touchingly said, "I thank you for encouraging me in everything I do and want to make you proud of me".

So after a breakfast of smoked salmon and eggs, I decided it was too hard to move from my bed that day and stayed there until lunchtime. It feels like a very long time since I've allowed myself to do that.  My eyes hurt too much to read and my fingers were twiddling.

There was nothing left to do....

This model reminds me so much of your beauty, individuality and energy for life. I'm already so proud of you sweetheart.

Postlady love

I had an early mother's day gift when this arrived in the mail today. So beautifully wrapped in it's brown paper bags with a little thank you card inside. Still, would you expect anything less from a company with a website as beautiful as this ?

We had a real burst of cold weather a couple of weeks ago, which coupled with the central heating controller going awol, had me a bit panicked. I thought we'd never make it through the winter and the woolly jumpers were either too small or had seen better days. A trawl through ravelry provided the answer.  Unable to decide, I totally splurged on one ....

for her

...and one for me.....

They are meant to be very quick to knit, so perhaps once the final exam is over (so soon!!), I can sit and knit all day long. So back in the box and into the cupboard for the time being.
So nice to have this to look forward to.

(btw, we have a new control pad for the heating :)

Feeling grateful

We had a beautiful weekend that included soaking up as much sun and autumn colours as possible. Somehow that meant that both of us also wore red!  Time alone with this little one is  precious and special. So important to treasure them when they occur.

It was her decision to visit this garden together. It remains one of our favourites and  I've really noticed the difference over the years . She chatted the entire time.

I finally had a photograph taken of myself wearing my finished shawl.

Goes to show it's not that hard to take photos, upload them and even post them to your blog! Might have to make this more of a regular occurrence. Shawl ravelled here
